In the Libby homeschool house, we have been studying the fifty states. This will definitely be a 2 year project. It may even take a bit longer as we take a state a week and dissect it to learn all we can about it. Sometimes it involves a project, studying a landmark or gives us a deeper look into our history as a country. But whichever way, the boys are enjoying this part of our school day. To help enhance our learning, we will starting the Flat Stanley Project. For those of you who are not familiar, Flat Stanley is a character in a book series by Jeff Brown. Stanley finds himself flat one morning when he wakes up and come to find out it was because a bulletin board fell on him. So we have reading through the series and about Stanley's adventures as he lives his life "flat". The kids loving reading these books together. But I would like to go a bit further and need your help! In the first book of the series Stanley actually gets mailed to a friend's house to spend the week. The boys have each made a "Flat Stanley". I would like to send you Flat Stanley and have you keep him for a week. I will provide with you a sheet to record the adventures you had with Flat Stanley, some basic info. about your state and just ask that you take a picture somewhere with Flat Stanley. This is going to be an awesome and fun way for the boys to learn about the states in our country.
I will send you everything you need including what is needed to get Flat Stanley back to us. We will be sending 2 Stanleys around. And in some cases you may even have Flat Stella tag along as well because we of course could not leave Hannah out of this project!

We are going to try our best to not repeat states until we have hit all the ones we can.

We would love to help! We're going to my mom's (in PA) in May, so if you haven't gotten that state yet, we could either take them with us or you could mail it to my mom and we could meet him there.
Oh my gosh it is probably too late for me, but I would have loved to get Stanley some cool travel pics! If we can still do it let me know. We could send it to Keene with Melissa... We could have had Stanley come to Virginia Beach with Annmarie and me... Call me!
