Two pink lines mean so many things. They mean excitement and joy as a new little life will be joining your family. They mean figuring out where to put that new little life in your 3 bedroom house (Dave's thoughts anyway). They mean a year of adjustments for each member of the family in some way or another. They mean fatigue, nausea, lack of energy and a roller coaster of emotions.
Yup, that about sums it up!!! We saw these two pink lines on March 8th and are so excited to have another baby in our family. We just told the kids last week and they are each reacting in their own ways:
Caleb-at first wasn't crazy about the idea. Then as we were all working together to put the groceries away last week, I heard him say, "I just love when everyone is home in our family...our big family...I can't believe we are going to have another baby!"
Josiah-he just keeps checking in with me and asking if there is a baby in my belly.
Hannah-she makes sure the blanket is on me to keep the baby "warm" and she often kisses my belly.
I did get to see this little jelly bean through an ultrasound last week. I got to see and hear the heartbeat too. That truly is one of my favorite sounds in the whole wide world. And though this is my 4th pregnancy, I am still in awe that at last week at just 7 weeks pregnant, there was a heartbeat to hear. So little and fragile yet such a strong beating heart that God created....I pray that never stops amazing me...
Many have asked if we want a boy or girl? How do you answer that???? Logistically, yes a girl would be great because of our bedroom situation. And I love my sisters so much and I would love Hannah to grow up with a sister but honestly, we really don't care. We are just praying for a healthy and whole baby boy or girl. Then there is the other question...are you going to find out this time?? NO!!!! This is the last ginormous surprise of my life!!!
I am feeling decent. This is my hardest pregnancy sickness wise. Instead of just morning sickness, I also have "late afternoon into the evening sickness" and basically no appetite. This has made most days difficult but I am looking forward to the 2nd trimester and some sunshine to help. I am 8 1/2 weeks along and due November 12th.
In addition to this exciting news, we got a chance to go to NH for a couple of days. Dave and I got to enjoy a nice anniversary dinner there while my family watched the kids. Caleb tried skiing for the first time and LOVED it. He can't wait to go again next year.
We battled sickness in our house for about 2 weeks which put me in the hospital to be hydrated but we are now all healed and trying to get back on track with our daily happenings.
Josiah turned 4 and had a really fun Knight birthday party with his friends. He got more weapons than I need to mention. We have large guns, light sabers, swords...you name it! And he couldn't be happier...such a boy!
Both boys will be starting T-ball in the next couple of weeks and they can't wait. We are looking forward to spring (actually, we would like to just skip to summer at this point...it's been a LONG winter!) and the kids get outside whenever possible...which isn't often.
I think that about sums it up for now. Sorry for the long post but that's what happens when it's been over a month!
